Anders Humlum is an economist studying how automation and AI affect workers and firms. His research spans modern technologies, such as AI chatbots and industrial robots, and historical innovations, such as steam engines during the Industrial Revolution. He collects micro-level data on how new technologies are adopted and traces their effects on employment, wages, firm survival, and profitability. His work also sheds light on how reskilling policies can help workers adapt to disruptions in the labor market.
Humlum holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University and a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Copenhagen. Prior to joining Booth in 2022, he was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Becker Friedman Institute.
